1. Glasgow to Ardentinny – by road

  • Take the A82(T) along the side of Loch Lomond as far as Tarbet.
  • Continue along the A83(T) through Arrochar, to the "Rest and be Thankful".
  • After another 7km take the A815 to Dunoon.
  • Drive along Loch Fyne to Strachur and continue toward Dunoon.
  • A couple of miles past Loch Eck (on your right hand side) take the turning (on your left hand side) for Kilmun, Strone and Ardentinny
  • 10km of single track road will take you to the Centre (on your left)

2. Glasgow to Ardentinny – via the ferry

  • Leaving Glasgow and heading west on the M8 (A8) towards Greenock.
  • Go through Greenock and continue along the A8 to Gourock
  • Taking either the Caledonian MacBrayne or the Western Ferry to Dunoon.
  • Once in Dunoon take the road to your right, through Dunoon and Sandbank.
  • Four miles outside Dunoon take the turning to Kilmun, Strone and Ardentinny.
  • Follow the road through to Ardentinny.

3. Glasgow to Castle Toward – by road

  • Take the A82 through Helensburgh, along the side of Loch Lomond to Tarbet.
  • Veer left onto the A83 through Arrochar and up and over the "Rest and be Thankful".
  • Turn left onto the A815 towards Dunoon, passing down Loch Fyne and through Strachur.
  • Continue down past Loch Eck and enter Dunoon.
  • Turn left at the first set of lights and pass Somerfield, turn right at the roundabout.
  • Turn left at the next roundabout and follow the road up the hill.
  • Continue down this road, with the river on your left, until you see Rothesay Harbour across the water.
  • The entrance to Castle Toward is on your right, shortly after you pass the Toward Sailing Club (on your left) - once inside the grounds take the road that forks to the left.

4. Glasgow to Castle Toward – via the ferry

  • Follow the motorway from Glasgow heading west towards Greenock down the M8/A8.
  • At the roundabout take the 2nd exit to A8.
  • At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A8.
  • At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A8.
  • At the next roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A78 signed to Irvine, Largs.
  • At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A770 signed to Gourock.
  • Continue out of Gourock until you see the Western Ferries terminal on the right hand side.
  • When you leave the ferry at Dunoon turn left, following the sign to Toward
  • The entrance to Castle Toward is on your right, shortly after you pass the Toward Saling Club - look out for the sign with the blue and white ARC symbol
  • Once inside the grounds take the road that forks to the left
