Outdoor instructor training course
This one-year training course is run at both our centres. It gives you the chance to achieve a wide range of NGB (National Governing Body) certificates and gain centre experience.

If selected you will receive a subsistence allowance of £55 per week, a £300 kit allowance to use via our trade kit accounts and travel expenses if you wish to return home at weekends (within a 25 mile radius). After six months you can also apply for a Personal Development Fund of up to £1500 that can go towards the cost of car or minibus driving lessons and other related costs.

If you are looking to enhance your group skills and complete NGB training and assessments whilst gaining experience then this is the ideal course for you. Previous experience of working with groups of children is desirable.

Volunteer scheme

Castle Toward and Ardentinny has been ‘home’ for many people over the last fifty years or so. If you have some time to spare and you would like to contribute to our two busy centres now’s your chance to relive some fond memories at the castle or Ardentinny and, we hope, make some new memories along the way.

You could spend the weekend with a few like-minded people doing painting or gardening, or get involved in a project. We will provide the food and the accommodation and you can help us provide some valuable experiences to young people.

To become a Friend of Castle Toward or Ardentinny call Bonita on 01369 870 249 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it We look forward to welcoming you back to our extended family!

NB Anyone wishing to join this scheme will be required to complete a 'Disclosure Scotland' application.
