Actual Reality, headed up by Peter Wilson (pictured right), is the name of the staff team responsible for providing a wide range of residential and outdoor education courses and services at Castle Toward and Ardentinny.

In 1996 following the closure of the centres by the local council a five-year project was initiated to keep them open. Assuming the mantle of ‘The Actual Reality Learning and Leadership Company Limited’, the team maintained both centres. These initial five years were difficult as no similar project had ever been launched anywhere else, but the heritage of learning and adventure has prevailed and the company has gone from strength to strength.

The Castle Toward Trust supports the work at both centres. Established in 2005 the trust is a group of sympathetic professionals and business people who have joined forces with the directors of the Actual Reality Learning and Leadership Company Ltd with the main objective of taking over the custodianship of Castle Toward. The trust provides governance, investment in facilities and has a long-term commitment to ensuring that the centres continue to serve customers in the best traditions of adventurous outdoor learning.
